I'm under the impression that Goosefeather was the smartest medicine cat in ThunderClan (considering Bluestar's Prophecy and the first series - I haven't read the others). He already knew all the terrible things that would happen in ThunderClan, and it made him crazy.

Yeah, I mean Snowfur (Bluestar"s sis) was hit by a car- excuse me monster. And poor Snowkit (deaf) was torn apart by a eagle (or was it hawk).
